Each Configuration Field in Detail

Images & Media Adjustments

Images/Add images

Add images by creating new file relations. You can add as many images as you want.

Width of the image in container

This option enables you to resize the image relative to its container. Bear in mind that shrinking the image will cause white space around it. The container height will automatically resize to the new image height.

Collapse image

This option hides most of the image on page load. This makes it possible to save layout space with tall images. This option works only on single images.

This option gets used quite a lot in the page documentation, for example. Apart from this, I don’t know if there is any real world use.

Position and Alignment

This lets you position your images in relation to the element’s headind and text. Check the examples section below to see the different options.

Vertical Alignment

If the box is checked, images that are less tall than their container will be vertically centered. Otherwise, they will stick to the top of the container.

Limit

Select how many of your gallery’s images should be shown as thumbnails. Usually, you'll set a number equal or higher than your image total, but you may opt to only showing a part of them to save layout space.

If you set a smaller number than that of your selected images, the last image of the count will be replaced with an icon pointing to further images. The hidden images are accessible by swiping through the lightbox overlay after clicking on any image.

This field will only have an effect if you create a gallery with multiple images.

Single item/column width

Set a with for all displayed images. If you selected multiple images to create a gallery, this also establishes the number of columns you'll have (100% = one column, 50% = two columns, etc.).

There are four fields for this value, each for a different viewport width, catering to different devices. A recommended setting for a gallery is: Smartphones 50%, Tablets None or 25%, Desktop 25%, Large Screens 16,6%.

The general default is 100%, if you leave a device field on none, it will fall back to the value of the preceeding field (or 100% regarding the smartphone field).

Aspect Ratio

This field will override the single image’s set aspect ratio to have a uniform gallery grid.

Images will usually be cropped to fit as long as no other option is set in the Image stretch mode field.

Image stretch mode

This field controls how the image is fitted to its parent container which in turn is set to the given aspect ratio.

The image can either be cropped or scaled to fit. Consider that scaling will leave blank spaces on two sides of the image – this can be adressed by the different scaling options.

Show caption in gallery grid

By default, images in a gallery will not feature a caption. Check the box if you want them to.

Hide Copyright in gallery grid

The copyright may be disturbing on small gallery grid. Check this box to hide it on all images. This will override the individual image settings.

Behaviour

Enlarge on click

This option enables the lightroom overlay to enlarge images. If you created a gallery, visitors can swipe through the images without having to open each one individually. The lightbox also shows the caption and copyright depending on your settings.
